Abstract
Temperature data and carbon dioxide (CO2) gas surface emission researches at north flank of mount Merbabu have been carried out. The major purpose of this research was to know possibility of geothermal potential in mount Merbabu. The data acquisitions of temperature and surface carbon dioxide (CO2) gas emission at October 3-4 2007, started from 08:00 Am to 04:00 pm covered 17 point, from coordinate 110025’42,4” BT to 110025’50,5” BT and 7023’38,3” LS to 7025’42,2” LS, each point was carried out in 75cm until 100cm hole from soil surface. Data measurement used thermocouple sensor and soil carbon (CO2) dioxide measurement instruments. The research results are graphic show the existence of increasing temperature and carbon dioxide (CO2) gas emission data. The temperature increases for elevation more than 1600 m to 2062 m above sea level, while increasing the gasses carbon dioxide (CO2) emission for elevation more than 1457 m to 1573 m above the sea level. The increasing for temperature and gasses carbon dioxide (CO2) emission indicate the possibility of geothermal potential researches at north flank of Merbabu volcano
