Abstract

This study is aimed to describe the socioeconomic characteristics of a commuter workforce decisions, and to analyze the dependent variable when a commuter workforce decisions are influenced by independent variables namely the difference of excess wages, original work, the land area in the village, educational level, age and distance. The model of analysis used in this research is the Binary Logistic Regression since dependent variable was in the form of dummy which value is 0 and 1. This research was conducted in a village in Mranggen, Mranggen District Demak Regency. This village was chosen because the Village in Mranggen is the onlyvillage with the highest potential for commuter movement, this village has also the highest population density but less farm area. The results showed that there are five independent variables that significantly influenced the dependent variable. These variables are the excess wage (X1), original work (X2), land area in the village (X3) with 10% significance level, and age (X5) distance (X6) with 5% significance level. While other independent variables are the education level (X4), no significant effect on employment decisions become commuter.
