THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE KNOWLEDGE, THE ATTITUDE, AND THE PRACTICE OF PREGNANT WOMEN IN ENTENATAL CARE WITH THE DETERMINING OF A CHILD-BIRTH ASSISTANT AT THE SUB DISTRICT OF BANJAREJO, BLORA, 2002

Abstract

Some of the maternal mortality cases are caused by an Assistant of Child-Birth. In Central Java, (in 2000), the average birthrate which was assisted by Formal Health Worker, was 70,65 %. In the District of Blora, the average birthrate was 47,44 %. This value was lowest in Central Java. The District of Blora has 26 Centers of Community Health. The average birthrate which was assisted by Formal Health Worker, was 26 %. This value was lowest in the Sub District of Banjarejo. The aim of research is to find the relationship between the knowledge, the attitude, and the practice of pregnant women in antenatal care with the determining of a cgild-birth assisstant in Sub District of Banjarejo, Blora, (in 2002). One hundred samples have been taken by researcher. Samples were taken Proportional Stratified Random Sampling from 20 villages. This research had been done by researcher between February 2002 and march 2002. The mode of research was by questionnaire in order to collect quantitative data. The activity of Focus Group Discussion (FGD) is done to collect qualitative data. The result of research shows that the knowledge, the attitude, and the practice of pregnant women in antenatal care have no significant relationship with the determining of a child-birth assistant. Based on statistical analysisi, it is know that the decision maker for determining child-birth assistant is family (65 %) from one hundred respondent who have been assisted by traditional midwife. Based on content analysis of Focus Group Discussion, it is gotten information that the decision maker for determining of child-birth assistant is family. The first choice for chid-birth assistant is the traditional midwife because they have no habit to go to the modern midwife. Sumber Utama : www.mikm.undip.ac.id
