Abstract

It have been carried out inversion of Rayleigh wave group velocity dispersion by using generalized inversion to estimate the earth layer structure in Eastern Central Java. The data had been used in Yuliyanto and Waluyo (2002) research, the arrival and travel time data of P and S wave were gotten from earthquakes data on March 98- Februari 99 with medium and high magnitude level which recorded in Merapi earthquakes station record. The result show that the earth layer structure in Eastern Central Java is: crust with thickness between 0-20,8 km and shaer-wave velocity between 2,9-4,18 km/s. At the 4-18 km depth, the probability of Low Velocity Zone (LVZ). A mantle, between 24- 100 km thick, with shear-wave velocity between 3,1-3,3km/s.
