Abstract
This is a study of two short stories, “Clochette” and “Madame Baptise”, written by Guy de Maupassant. This study focuses on two female characters who have experienced physical and psychological violence until they died. The violence is caused not only by male society but also by female society. The study answers a research problem, that is how male culture constructs female stereotypes. By using feminism perspective, this research shows that the two short stories support patriarchal ideology in which the dichotomic image construction for female and male is blurred
