Abstract

Planning of medicine necessity is one of the important aspects and determines management of medicine because it will influence supllying, distributing, and using medicine at unit of health services. Therefore, it must be performed by a team that involves integrated sectors namely financial, medical, planning, and managerisl sector. At Dr. Soeselo Hospital in Tegal District, planning of medicine necessity is based on consumption method. In fact, several steps of calculation are not done in which its condition causes 40% of medicine are not included in process of planning, accumulation of medicine is happened in the end of year, and fulfillment of some medicines is lack. Aim of this research was to find out of the role of planner and planning method which was performed at Dr. Soeselo Hospital in Tegal District, and to identify effectiveness of planning of medicine necessity for providing some recommendations to improve effectiveness of the planning. This research was an observational study using descriptive-qualitative method. Data were obtained by interview and document study. Data were analyzed interactively by the process of reducing, presenting data, concluding, and verifying. Result of this research shows that the planner of medicine necessity at the hospital has involved user but there still have some problems namely coordination is still low, some kinds of medicines are not included in planning process, planned medicines are significantly different with used medicines, consumption method is not done properly, and effectiveness of planning process is still low.
