PENYIMPANGAN NILAI BUDAYA CINA PADA TOKOH FILM SAVING FACE TERHADAP MASUKNYA UNSUR BUDAYA POPULER AMERIKA

Abstract

This thesis entitled Penyimpangan Terhadap Nilai Budaya Cina Akibat Masuknya Unsur Budaya Populer Amerika (Analisis Tokoh Pada Skrip Film ”Saving Face” deals with Chinese Imigrant social problems taking place in America. In this film, the script writer describes social deviations happened to the society conducted by several main characters in which they behave in deviating way, out from the convention or social norms. This study aims to analyze objective aspect of the film script, sociological aspects and its psychological aspects. In collecting data, the writer also used three methods of approach, namely objective, sociological and psychological method to analyze the topic discussed. The structural method is used to analyze intrinsic aspects of the film script which include theme, character and characterization, plot and conflict, while the sociological and psychological method is used to analyze the sociological and psychological aspects from the film script. Finally, this study shows that social deviation in a society may happen if the members of society do not perform the roles in conform to the society’s hopes. It is caused by the effect from another culture that influence the basic culture, held by the old generation.
