Abstract
Many immigrants came to America with the expectation they would get better life there. Moreover, in this 21st century, America has been a developed country and this gives those immigrants possibility to realize their dreams. In going through the new life in the new environment, absolutely every immigrant has different desires and needs that have to be fulfilled and it is the reason of the writer for making this thesis, to reveal the motivations and the efforts of two main characters in fulfilling their universal needs according to Abraham Maslow theory. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the universal needs of the two main characters in Spanglish movie script that are successfully fulfilled by them as Mexican Immigrants who live in USA. The method of research in writing this thesis is library research. The methods of approaches that the writer uses are exponential approach and psychological theory. The exponential approach is used to analyze characters and setting, while the psychological theory is used by writer to analyze the actions of two main characters in the efforts to fulfill their needs. Through the analysis, the writer finds that both characters in Spanglish movie script succeed in fulfilling the needs they want to attain according to Abraham Maslow theory. Even they face obstacles and conflicts, finally they are able to achieve successfully their desires and survive in America.
