Abstract
A Coast will have the tendency to adjust its profile in such a way absorbing the wave’s energy that enters the shore. This concept is known as Natural Dynamic Coast Response. Normal waves will be easily absorbed by the shore-line mechanism; however, lager waves and storm waves will exhibit a much higher degree of energy. This, although having a relatively short period of occurrance, will lead to excessive erossion. On the second stage two possibilities exist; the shore will recover to its original formation due to the following normal waves, or the eroded material will be transported to another location. This will lead to erossion on one location and sedimentation on another site. The Genesis model can be used to predict the coast-line protection system. As for an example we can see the Indramayu (West Java) coast. Erossion on this shore has been so far headed that the Pertamina Mundu-Balongan pipe lines are endangered. The Genesis model can be used to analyze the differentation of Indramayu’s coast-line including the most appropriate shore line protection system design. Keywords : Erossion, Genesis Model
