Abstract
Due to ground-shaking during an earthquake, a cyclic shear stress will be imposed to the soil element. Shear modulus of soil is one of the soil parameters that should be recognized to transmite the vibration. Based on the laboratory tests, the value of shear modulus of soil (Gmax) is calculated using the formula developed by Hardin & Drnevich (1972) and Menard (1965). The research shows that sandy clay Salaman has Gmax = 6,942 Mpa (Hardin & Drnevich,1972) and 15,95 Mpa (Menard,1965), for silty clay Mertoyudan, Gmaks= 5,461 Mpa (Hardin & Drnevich,1972) and 14,83 Mpa (Menard,1965), for clay sand Krasak, Gmaks=12,942 Mpa (Hardin & Drnevich, 1972) and 28,09 Mpa (Menard, 1965), Key-words : Shear modulus, Soil, Earthquake, Stress, Strain, Laboratory test.
