Abstract

Improvement of understanding and awareness of patients brings a hospital management to honor patients’ rights. The Regulation of Health Minister No. 585 year and the Law No. 29 year 2004 arrange the requirement of informed consent completely towards patients who receive surgical treatment. Increasing the surgical treatment on patients at Bhakti Wiratamtama Hospital is not followed by the obedience of implementing the informed consent. Based on previous study, many documents of informed consents were not filled completely. Aim of this research was to analyze implementation of informed consent at Bhakti Wiratamtama Hospital viewed from knowledge, attitude, and doctor’s obedience in apllying and completing the document of informed consent. This was observational research using qualitative method and cross sectional approach. Data were collected by performing in-depth interview towards the specialist doctors as the main informant and analyzed using the method of content analysis. Result of this research shows that all specialist doctors know about informed consents as the duty of health workers, the responsibility of doctors, and the right of patients to know a kind of treatment that will be received. Nevertheless, the doctors do not really know a regulation. In terms of the attitude, the doctors do not really know a regulation. In terms of the attitude, the doctors agree with informed consents as the duty of health workers, honor the patient’ rights, and assure security for the doctor and the hospital. Completing the document is not only as the duty of doctors but also the duty of the hospital to facilitate. In terms of the obedience, half of the obedient doctors complete the document by themselves. Otherwise, not obedient doctors not explain and delegate it to another doctor or midwife. Most of the doctors do not complete the document and just 13.5% of the documents are filled completely. Sumber Utama : www.mikm.undip.ac.id
