Abstract
Coverage of pregnancy services by an impermanent midwife in District of Kudus was lower than 80% as the national target. This condition showed that work performance of impermanent midwife was still low. Factor of work performance can be influenced by work motivation. Therefore, it needs to improve work motivation of impermanent midwives, because they are as the first line of health services in terms of basic midwifery services. Aim of this research was to find out the factors related to work motivation of impermanent midwives in Kudus District year 2008. This was observational research using survey method and cross – sectional approach. Data werw cpllected from 16 impermanent midwives using questionnaires. Furthermore, in-depth interview was performed forwards 4 Head of Health Centers. Primary and secondary data were analyzed using chi-square test. The result of this research shows that all respondents graduate from Diploma III of Midwifery, have a work period more than 12 months, work as a widwife, and have a range of age from 21 to 27 years old. Most of the respondents perceive low achievement (56,3 %), lack of avowal (68,8 %), low jobs (62,5 %), high responsibility (81,3 %), high selft-development (62,5 %), good supervision (68,8 %), high salary (81,3 %), good interpersonal relationship (68,8 %), good condition of work environment (68,8 %), and good work motivation (81,3 %). The factors that have a significant relationship with work motivation of impermanent midwives are achievement (p=0,009), avowal (p=0,005), jobs (p=0,035), self-development (p=0,001), supervision (p=0,005), interpersonal relationship (p=0,005), and condition of work environment (p=0,005).
