Abstract
An experiment to study the optical properties of sugar and salt solutions using external electric field variation has been conducted. The solution concentration used here 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, and 35% and a pair of pararel plates is connected to a high voltage source (0-106 V/m) to provide the electric field and diode laser with 645 nm wavelight and 5 mw power here also used. The optical properties studied is the electric field β vibrational rotation of a laser beam transmitted as a result of the given external electric field on transparent materials. Results show that even without electric field present sugar solution does rotate the polarization angle, where as salt solution does not. Salt solution can only rotate polarization angle on the present of electric field
