Abstract
The measuring moisture content of wood based on microcontroller AT89S51 has been design and fabrication. This design can be exploited for timber industry, with this system can know how much water content contained in the timber so that they can know how much the quality of the wood. The system consists of switches that form the electrodes, signal conditioning ADC, the minimum system microcontroller AT89S51, LCD and circuit RS-232 serial communication. This system works when the electrodes on the plugs in the timber, the electrodes will deliver how much water content that there is then the value would appear on the LCD. Series of electrodes made using OP AMP IC 358 as. Then the analog data sent by the electrodes into the ADC to be converted into digital data as input to the microcontroller which will then display the value of water content in the form of the output of LCD. Then the microcontroller sends data to a computer via serial communication. Data is sent in accordance with the microcontroller input port. The system has been successfully realized and can use the water content in the wood, with a measurement range of 9% to 30% with accuracy about 83.4%.
