Aim of this research was to analyze the quality management of Dr.R. Koesma Public Hospital in District of Tuban in implanting the baby care hospital program.

Abstract

Many hospitals have not implemented the baby care hospital program. One of the program’s goals is to decrease Infant Mortality Rate (IMR). Until now, IMR in Indonesia is still high. According to estimation of Indonesia Health Baseline Survey in 2007, IMR was 20 per 1000 life-birth. High rate of infant mortality could be avoided by providing a breast feeding. Dr.R. Koesma Public Hospital had not implemented the program of baby care in which there was no integrated care services. This situation was accounted for overloaded work burden, unimplemented policy, and insufficient room. Aim of this research was to analyze the quality management of Dr.R. Koesma Public Hospital in District of Tuban in implanting the baby care hospital program. This was observational research using qualitative method and cross-sectional approach. Data were collected from in-depth interview towards six persons who were a director, a head of nursing section, a head of room and nurses. The result of this research shows that work guideline and specific regulations has been made by the director in accordance with the forms of hospital accreditation. Nevertheless, some items of the work procedure and the policy have not been performed. Planning of equipment maintenance has been included in the Regional Expenditure and Income Budget. Planning of human resources has been made but the implementation is still unscheduled. Monitoring and evaluation is conducted if there is any report from medical record. Supervision has not focused on the baby care hospital. A correction activity is performed during three weeks after evaluation. The change of system is conducted in form of procedure review, improvement of knowledge, and improvement of a planning. Sumber Utama : www.mikm.undip.ac.id
