Abstract
Rolling contact is one of the problems, that be found it on our daily activities, and is interesting to analyze, such as the contact of wheel and track, and many other problem where rolling models or rolling with sliding. On the phenomenon of wheel rolling, which is rolling movement contacting track or surface that touches the area of wheel contacts. In daily application, wheel are distinguished based on the condition of operation and track, such as contact between wheel and railways, wheel with highway track and others. The purpose of this final project is modelling rolling contact, and verify it with other method of rolling contact model. The phenomenon is being analyzed using Finite Element Method, by using ABAQUS 6.5-1 Software. The nature of material analyzed is plastic – elastic. In this research, case taken is rolling contact, simulated using rolling movement of distributed semielliptical pressure. Beside, simulation are also created by using movement of pure rolling contact and also repeated rolling contact by using updating geometry method. The analysis reported that the amount of load is very affected on the form of surface contour and maximum tension on the contact area. Verification on the analysis report using Finite Element Method used by author to other models resulted small amount of errors, with average of 1,017%.
