Abstract

Academic procrastination in university students is one of the problems that need attention. Procrastinator has excessive anxiety. Fear and anxiety is a symptom of a lack of motivation and loss of a goal to learn at university. Low Assertiveness make them tend to be passive in looking at and doing things, do not want to ask, no shame, not even to accept help to people around her to help the task or problem being addressed. As a result individuals often settle close to the deadline so that the tasks given can not be done and do procrastination. The hypothesis proposed research is no negative relationship between assertiveness with academic procrastination in university students. The higher assertiveness, the lower the academic procrastination in university students. The purpose of this study is to test the relationship between academic procrastination assertiveness with the Psychology Faculty of Diponegoro University, Semarang. The subject of research as a whole amounted to 123 people with characteristics as a psychology student, active classes, and semester II-VII. Sampling using proportional random sampling method. Results of hypothesis testing using simple regression analysis shows rxy = -0.561 and p = 0.000 (p <0.05). These conditions indicate that there is a negative relationship between academic procrastination assertiveness with students at the Faculty of Psychology student of Diponegoro University, Semarang. Assertiveness effective contribution in this study amounted to 0.315, meaning that the students' academic prokrasitinasi Psychology Faculty Diponegoro University, Semarang 31.5% is determined by factors Assertiveness, while 68.5% were influenced by other factors not revealed in this study.
