NILAI INDIVIDUALISME PADA KARAKTER TOKOH EDWARD COLE DAN CARTER CHAMBERS DALAM FILM THE BUCKET LIST

Abstract

Literature in Indonesia is called ‘sastra’. The term of ‘sastra’ is formed by two syllables that are ‘sas’ means educate, or direct and ‘tra’ means education book. Based on those meanings, literature works as an instructor for the readers. The main object of literary ideas is to provide moral values that would change the readers for a better behavior among the society. One value that built America is individualism value. Individualism is the moral stance, political philosophy, ideology or social outlook that stresses independence and self reliance. Based on understanding of individualism, this thesis described and compared the individualism values that occurred in the characterization of two main characters, Edward Cole and Carter Chambers, in The Bucket List movie. The purpose of this thesis is to described individualism values which already success to build America until today.
