Abstract
Viscoelasticity is a material properties which shows viscous and elastic responds when deformation occurs. Stresses and strains that occur in viscoelastic material is a function of time. To study the viscoelastic properties of a material, an experiment has to be performed. Some example of materials which have the viscoelastic property are tissue, polymer, wood and some metals at high temperature. The small intestine also has the viscoelastic properties. This final project studies about the contact characteristic between capsule endoscopy and small intestine using finite element method. The contact that happened is a sliding contact with capsule endoscopy speed 0.5 mm/s, where capsule endoscopy and small intestine are modeled as the two-dimensional axisymmetric structures. The capsule endoscopy is considered as rigid. Analysis has been performed to study the effect of hoop stress on the geometry of the capsule endoscopy. There are three present models that will be modeled as shape variation of the capsule endoscopy. For each present model will be varied on its radius. From the result obtained each present model shows different characteristic of contact and value of hoop stress.
