Abstract

Casting is the process to molten metal then pouring this molten metal to mould. In casting we can also alloying two or more element of metal. Fluidity of molten metals is a one of the most significant parameter in producing sound casting, particulary for complex shaped and thin walled product. Since the fluidity could influence its castability. The aims of the research are to understand the influence of copper content addition of 4 wt%, 10 wt%, and 33 wt%, on the fluidity and micro structure formed in aluminum alloy. The research was conducted by sand casting using the spiral test with pouring temperature at 750oC. After we finished the casting, we doing some test for the product which is spectrometry test, measurement of flow length and micrography . The results showed that increasing of copper content will increase fluidity of aluminum alloy.
