HUBUNGAN ANTARA FIBRILASI ATRIUM DENGAN TERJADINYA STROKE ISKEMIK PADA PASIEN STROKE DI RSUP Dr. KARIADI PERIODE 1 JANUARI 2006-31 DESEMBER 2006

Abstract

Background : Since the last two decades, many studies have mentioned strong relation between heart and brain, Atrial fibrillation is the most frequent heart disease related to cerebral emboli. The objective of this research is to describe the influence of atrial fibrillation as the risk factor of ischemic stroke in stroke patients at Dr. Kariadi hospital Semarang. And further can be used to increasing awareness and management of atrial fibrillation as the risk factor of stroke. Method : This research is an observational analytic study and using cross-sectional design with 81 samples of patients. The data was taken from patient’s medical records who fulfilled the inclusion criterias including 45 – 70 years old, being diagnosed with ischemic stroke based on CT scan ( there is a hipodens image ), completed with ECG, and being diagnosed with haemorrhagic stroke , subdural hematoma ,intra kranial bleeding,medula spinalis tumor, meningioma . The data including age, sex, and atrial fibrillation image on ECG, were edited, tabulated based on the variable, and were descriptively analyzed to describe the distribution and the proportion. And then the hipotesis was tested with Chi-Square test. The observation result was put ini 2X2 table. And the result is significantly different if p ≤ 0,05. Result : This research showed that the association between atrial fibrillation with the prevalence of ischemic stroke has p = 0,050 ( p≤0,05 ) and has an attribute risk 2,863. Conclusion : This research showed that patients with atrial fibrillation have risk 2,863 probability larger than normal people to suffer ischemic stroke. Atrial fibrillation has association with the prevalence of ischemic stroke as a risk factor. Keywords : ischemic stroke, atrial fibrillation
