Background: Phyllanthus Niruri L was known as imunostimulan by increasing phagocytosis activity, neutrophil chemotaxis, NK (Natural Killer) cell toxicty, complement hemolysis and also increasing lymphosit T cell proliferation, Tumor Necrosis Factor-α (TNFα) and Interleukin-4 (IL-4) secretion. According to this theory, Phyllanthus Niruri could be used as immune booster against intracellular bacterial infection, including typhoid infection. Objectives: To descript and analyze the effect of Phyllanthus Niruri on macrophage phagocytosis activity of balb/c mice, infected with Salmonella typhimurium. Methods: This study was an experimental research, used post test only control group design. Population were healthy male balb/c mice with 30 samples, divided into 5 groups by simple random sampling method and named K1 (was infected with S.typhimurium), K2 (without any treatment), P1 (was given P. niruri 125 μg/day and infected with S. typhimurium), P2 (was given P. niruri 250 μg/day and infected with S. typhimurium), P3 (was given P. niruri 500 μg/day and infected with S. typhimurium). On the 7th, mice were terminated and token its peritoneal liquid for macrophage culture. It was continued with phagocytosis activity counting with latex beads. Processing data was used SPSS 15. Hypothetical test was one way ANOVA test. Result: Increasing of phagocytosis index in Phyllanthus-treatment was resulted from this experiment with mean: P1= 2,533; P2= 2,853; P3= 2,633; K1=1,270; K2=1,647. Significant difference test had been resulted with p = 0.000. Conclusion: There was significant difference between macrophage phagocytosis activity in balb/c infected Phyllanthus with the control groups and P2 as the group with the highest mean of phagocytosis index.
