Abstract

Background : Prevalence of Soil Transmitted Helminthes (STH) infection among primary school students in SDN 03 District of Pringapus Regency of Semarang is still high with the percentage is 25,53%. Social economic state is the most important factor that influence the infection of STH. Objective : This study was aimed to assess the correlation between social economic state Soil Transmitted Helminths infection at SDN 03 District of Pringapus Regency of Semarang. Method : This was an analytical observational study with cross sectional design. The subject of this study is student of SDN 03 District of Pringapus Regency of Semarang and 57 students of them have fulfilled the criteria. Data were collected by interviewing via questionnaires for knowing their social economic state and examination with Kato-Katz method for detecting worm egg on feces. Data were processed with SPSS 15,0 using Spearman statistic test. Result : The results showed that the prevalence of STH infection is 12,3%. Most of the students were found with social economic state sejahtera 2. Spearman statistic test showed that p=0,005 (p<0,05) by means of there was a correlation between social economic state with Soil Transmitted Helminths infection. Conclusion : The prevalence of STH infection had decreased. There is a significant correlation between social economic state with Soil Transmitted Helminths infection at SDN 03 District of Pringapus Regency of Semarang.
