Abstract
Casting is the process to molten metal then pouring this molten metal to mould. In casting we can also alloying two or more element of metal. Casting is affected by some factors and one of them is the mould’s material. Defferent mould material affected the cooling time, mechanicm nature and micro structure. The research was held by doing permanent mold casting, sand casting and numerical method with software fluent. The material which was used is Al and Cu. And the degree of Cu is 4% and 10%. Size, Volume and mould material is equal with cylinder. Beside of that the mould also equipped with the thermocouple sensor and display thermocopel this equipment was taken to know the degradation of temperature and cooling time. After we finished the casting we doing some test for the product which is hardness test and micrography. Result that examination is cooling time of permanent mould casting was faster than sand casting. By the calculation of the heat transfer, we can also know that more wider the heat release area effect the heat transfered from molten metal to the permanent mold can also result in more faster in the cooling time. More faster in the cooling time the result of structure dendrite is soft and more hard mold product.
