Abstract

Background : Influenza Like Illness (ILI) was a cataral disturbing of upper air way that caused by virus. More than 100 types of virus had been connencted with it. Diagnostic instrument test, such as laboratorium, to differ influenza A virus from other virus not always available, hence some clinical sign which can be use as possible sign of infection caused by influenza A virus is needed . That’s why research about dominant symptom as clinical diagnosis is needed to help early diagnosis of influenza that can make the theraphy more accurate and shortened. Purpose: to know about the dominant symptom of ILI that caused by Influenza A virus, Influenza B virus, and other virus. Method: the method, which was used, is a survey method which based on Cross sectional with research subjects 499 patients during 1September 2007- 31 May 2008. Data was collected by direct examining sample from throat swab and nose swab using Real Time Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction. Data was analyzed by χ2 and will be continued with logistic regression if needed. Result: there was no dominant symptom of ILI that caused by Influenza A virus, Influenza B Virus, and other virus. There was no a Formula of Influenza A Syndrome that can be use for Syndrom Influenza A prediction. Conclusion: there was no dominant symptom of ILI that caused by Influenza A virus, Influenza B Virus, and other virus. To diagnose of Influenza was need definite diagnostic instrument test for example RT-PCR. Key Word: dominant symptom, Influenza Like Illness, Influenza Virus.
