Abstract
Background: Influenza is an acute respiratory illness caused by infection with influenza viruses. Influenza viruses, especially influenza A virus, caused epidemics and pandemics. To prevent it, a surveillance system has been made by examining all patient with Influenza Like Illness category at Cirebon, Malang and Solo. Identification and confirmation of influenza virus is using Real Time Reverse Transcriptase Polynerase Chain Reaction Test. Purpose: To know the difference of distribution between influenza A virus and influenza B virus in patient with Influenza Like Illness at Cirebon, Malang, and Solo in 2007-2008. Method: the method, which was used, is a survey method which based on Cross sectional with research subjects 177 patients during September 2007-April 2008. Data was collected by direct examining sample from throat swab and nose swab using Real Time Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction. Data was analyzed by χ2. Result: χ2 test shows that there was significance difference of distribution between influenza A virus and influenza B virus (p=0,004). Conclusion: This research shows that there was significance difference of distribution between influenza A virus and influenza B virus. Keywords: Distribution, influenza virus, Real Time RT-PCR.
