Abstract
Background: Cuteneous candidosis is a primary or secondary infection caused by the Candida genus yeast especially Candida albicans which attacks the skin. The clinical appearance is marked as an acute lesion, begins with a tiny lesion that enlarges as erythematous macules, has a scalloped border with a white rim consisting of necrotic epidermis and papules that surrounds the erythematous macerated base caused by an erosion of the vesicles. Satellite lesions are frequently found around the main lesion as some tiny vesicles or pustules. Objective: The objective of this research is to compare the laboratory results between main and satellite lesion, scrapping from cutaneous candidosis patients’ epidermis using KOH 10%. Methods: An observational analytic study using cross sectional method, with 30 cutaneous candidosis patients which included as samples. Every samples’ epidermis were scrapped on their main and satellite lesion, and being examined microscopically with KOH 10%. The data was analyzed using statistic agreement test (kappa coefficient). Results: According to kappa analyzing, measurement of agreement between main and satellite lesion from this research was 0. Conclusion: This laboratory examination between main and satellite lesion from cutaneous candidosis patients had been interpreted as chance agreement. Key Words: Cutaneous candidosis, Candida albicans, Satellite lesion
