Abstract
Carbon nanotube (CNT) as nano material structur have high surface area and electrical properties which are dependent on the chirality and that tube diameter, make it candidate material for gas sensing. This research investigate the sensitivity of ethanol vapor (C2H5OH) on the change in resistance of carbon nanotube. Deposition CNT on silicon (Si) substrat were synthesized using spray pyrolysis method. Carbon nanotubes was characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Sensitivity of CNT to ethanol vapor were tested by measuring the resistance of CNT at temperature of 27, 38, 50 dan 870 C. SEM analysis show that diameter of CNT between 20 - 65 nm with the thick is 1,51 μm. This research show that upon exposure to ethanol, the resistance of carbon nanotubes increased significantly. This is because of electron charge transfer, impact of molecule ethanol adsorption on CNT. This result indicates that CNT sensitive to ethanol vapor.
