Background : Kunyit is one of herbal medicine that had been empirically used by Indonesian people since long time ago to treat disease or to maintain their health. Recent studies indicate that dietary kunyit may responsible for anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Overdose of paracetamol can cause kidney damage. This research was aimed to prove that kunyit extract could protect kidney from appearance change of Balb/c that previously administered by paracetamol. Method : This laboratoric experimental research applied post test only control group design on 36 mice that were devided into 6 groups. K was only received standart food without any treatment. Treatment group P1 received paracetamol 0,5 ml on 1st – 7th day. Treatment group P2 received kunyit 3mg on 1st – 14th day. Treatment group P3 received kunyit 3mg on 1st – 14th day and paracetamol 3,5 mg on 15th-21th day. Treatment group P4 received kunyit 6mg on 1st – 14th day and paracetamol 3,5 mg on 15th-21th day. Treatment group P5 received kunyit 12mg on 1st – 14th day and paracetamol 3,5 mg on 15th-21th day. P1 and P2 was exterminated on 7th day and 14th day. Respectively, while K, P3, P4, P5 was being exterminated on 21th day. All data were analyzed with One Way ANOVA test and followed with Post Hoc test. Result : P1 showed the most amount of obstructed tubules from another group. P2 showed less amount of obstructed tubules and insignificantly different statistically (p > 0,05) compared to K group. P3, P4, and P5 tubules proximal showed less obstruction than P1. Significant difference were found in comparison within P1-P3, P1-P4, and P1-P5 (p < 0,05). Conclusion : Kunyit treatment might salvage kidney from appearance change of Balb/c that previously administered by paracetamol.
