Abstract

Background : Eugenia polyantha is one of the plant often used in society as alternative medication. Ones of Eugenia polyantha’s benefits, haven’t much been explored is antihiperlipidemia. Eugenia polyantha contains several active regiments considered to be able to decrease LDL cholesterol serum level in blood, so may prevent hiperlipidemic condition. Because of that, a study to determine the effect of stratified dose of Eugenia polyantha extract on LDL cholesterol serum level in hiperlipidemic rats was done. Methode : An experimental study using Pre and Post Randomized Controlled Group Design was carried out to already made hyperlipidemic Wistar rats. Sample consist of 28 male Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups. They divided to one control group, which receive standard diet only and three treatment group, which given diet containing 0,18 gr for treatment I; 0,36 gr for treatment II; and 0,72 gr for treatment III per day for 15 days. The analysis of LDL Cholesterol serum level was determined using Precipitation of LDL, VLDL and chylomicron methode. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon and Kruskall-Wallis. Result : The administration of three dosage of Eugenia polyantha extract in the treatment groups causes decreasing of LDL cholesterol serum level significantly (p<0,05) to all dosages compared to control. The dose of 0,72gr/day could decrease the LDL cholesterol serum level which was the highest than the other groups (0,18 gr and 0,36gr/day). Conclusion : The administration of 0,18gr;0,36gr;0,72 gr/day Eugenia polyantha extract for 15 days could decrease LDL cholesterol serum level in hiperlipidemic rats significantly, with 0,72gr daily dose could decrese the LDL cholesterol serum higher than the other groups. Keyword : Hyperlipidemic, LDL Cholesterol, Eugenia polyantha extract
