Abstract
Background : Bengle (Zingiber purpureum Roxb.) is a traditional medicine which has ben used widely in public as anthelmintic. This research is done to prove the anthelmintic potency of bengle root squezze and infusion toward Ascaridia galli worms compared with piperazine citrate solution as a positive control and NaCl 0,9% as a negative control. Methods : This research was an experimental research with post test only controlled group design. The sample were 384 Ascaridia galli worms, which divided into 4 groups. The first group was treated by bengle root squezze in 5%, 10% 20%, 30% dan 40% concentrations. The second groups was treated by bengle root infusion in 5%, 30%, 50%, 70% dan 90% concentrations. The third group was treated by piperazine citrate solution in 0,2%, 0,3%, 0,4%, 0,5% and 0,6% concentrations. The fourth group was treated by NaCl 0,9%. Each petridish containing 8 worms was administered by 25 ml volumes of each concentration. Each disk was incubated at 370C and replicated three times. Data were collected by observation total mortality time of Ascaridia galli worm every 15 minutes. LC50 and LT50 were calculated by probit analysis. Data were analysed by Anova test continued with Post Hoc test. Data analysed by SPSS 15,0 for Windows with significancy level p≤0,05. Result : Probit analysis showed that LC50 and LT50 of bengle root squezze were 20,101% and LT50 846,347 minutes. LC50 and LT50 bengle root infusion were 67,806% and LT50 1137,984 minutes. Post Hoc test showed that there are significant differences between bengle root squezze and infusion. Conclusion : Effectiveness of anthelmintic potency of bengle (Zingiber purpureum Roxb.) root squezze and infusion are lower than piperazin citrate. Anthelmintic potency of bengle root squezze are better than root infusion. Key words : Anthelmintic, Ascaridia galli, Zingiber purpureum Roxb.
