Abstract

ABSTRACT Background. The main pathophysiology of DHF is increased capillary permeability, and hemostasis. Immune responses during dengue virus infection involving various cytokines. Transforming growth factor beta 1 is a cytokine that suggested taking apart in pathogenesis of DHF. Levels of immunoglobulin E increase in DHF. Purpose. To determine the correlation between TGF-β1 and Immunoglobulin E in DHF day- 0 and day- 2 Research Methods. This was an observational prospective studies. The sample were patients aged 3-14 years by the 1999 WHO criteria for DHF hospitalized in pediatric wards or in the PICU RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang period July 2005 - July 2006. The correlation test used to determine the correlation between TGF-1 levels and Ig E levels on day-0 and day-2 Results. Sixty two samples of 84 DHF patients could be analyzed. Mostly famales, with means of age were 7.35 ± 2.47. Mostly secundary infection, means of TGF-β1 levels on day-2 (49364.72) were higher than day-0 (45062.92).Means IgE levels on days-0 (686.18) were higher than day-2 (452.087). Correlation test between TGF-β1 levels with IgE levels on day 0 was (r=0.12;p=0.30) and day 2 (r=0.04;p=0.769). Conclusion. There is no correlation between TGF-β1 levels and IgE levels on day- 0 and day-2. Keywords. DHF, TGF-β1, Ig E. xvi ABSTRAK Latar Belakang. Patofisiologi DBD adalah peningkatan permeabilitas kapiler dan hemostasis. Respons imun selama infeksi virus dengue melibatkan berbagai sitokin. Transforming growth factor beta 1 adalah sitokin yang diduga berperan pada patogenesis DBD. Imunoglobulin E plasma meningkat pada DBD. Tujuan. Menilai korelasi antara kadar TGF-β1 plasma dengan Imunoglobulin E plasma pada DBD hari perawatan ke-0 dan ke-2. Metode Penelitian. Penelitian observasional prospektif. Sampel penelitian penderita umur 3-14 tahun dengan DBD kriteria WHO 1999 yang dirawat di bangsal penyakit anak atau di PICU RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang periode Juli 2005 – Juli 2006. Pemeriksaan kadar TGF- β1 plasma dan Ig E plasma dilakukan hari pengamatan ke-0 dan ke-2. Data dianalisa dengan uji korelasi. Hasil Penelitian. Ada 62 sampel dari 84 penderita DBD yang memenuhi kriteria penelitian dan dapat dianalisa. Sebagian besar berjenis perempuan dengan rerata 7,35 ± 2,47. Mayoritas infeksi sekunder . Rerata kadar TGF-β1 hari ke-2 (49364,72) lebih tinggi daripada hari ke-0 (45062,92). Rerata kadar IgE hari ke-0 (686,18) lebih tinggi dibanding hari ke-2 (452,087). Uji korelasi antara TGF-β1 plasma dengan Ig E plasma hari ke 0 adalah (r=0,12;p=0,30) dan hari ke 2 (r=0,04;p=0,769). Kesimpulan. Tidak ada korelasi antara kadar TGF-β1 plasma dengan kadar Ig E plasma pada pengamatan hari ke-0 dan hari ke-2. Kata Kunci. DBD, TGF-β1, Ig E.
