Abstract
Background : Noise is an increase of sound with irregular complex phase which makes it as a stressor for an individual. Noise condition can cause serious disturbances and can affect physiological and psychological condition, moreover, noise is a stressor that can modulate immune response. Leucocyte count can represent the immune system to know immune response change. Objective : To prove the effect of noise with intensity > 85 dB to leucocyte count in Balb/c mice. Method : This research is experimental with Two Group Post Test-Only Control Group Design. It used 12 male Balb/c mice, divided into 2 groups, Control group (K) which was not given any noise and Treatment group (P) which was treated by noise with intensity > 85 dB. The leucocyte count was done in the 3rd¬ day. Result : The average of leucocyte count in K=5788 per mm³ and P=6333 per mm³. Leucocyte count in P group is higher than K group, however, not significantly different. Conclusion : The leucocyte count of the group treated with acute noise is higher then the control group but still in normal range. Key words : noise, leucocyte count, immune system.
