HUBUNGAN ANTARA MASA KERJA DENGAN KEJADIAN GINGIVAL LEAD LINE PADA PEDAGANG KAKI LIMADI KOTA SEMARANG

Abstract

Background:Gingival lead line is a blue-purplish line on the gums seen in chronic lead (Pb) poisoning. Street vendors is a job with high risk lead contamination. The longer the duration of work, the higher the risk of lead contamination. So far there is no research indicating a significant correlation between gingival lead line with duration of work among street vendors in Semarang. Methods: This was an observational research with cross sectional approach, consisted of 37 respondents to be examined. The respondents were street vendors taken from 5 main streets such as Pandanaran, Siliwangi, Sriwijaya, Hayam Wuruk, and Mataram street. The collected data, which was the primary data, was taken from direct measurement of the anterior part of upper and lower gingiva (left and right canines,1st and 2nd incisives). The degree of gingival lead line was classified according to Sudibyo’s score. The data were analysed by Spearman’s test and processed with SPSS. Result: Derived from 37 respondents, 28 persons showed gingival lead line in their gums with various duration of works. From those who has a highest degree of gingival lead line had long term of works ( more than 5 years). Almost all respondents showed lead poisoning symptoms. Spearman’s test valued at p=0.742. Conclution:There was no significant correlation between works duration and gingival lead line existence of street vendors in Semarang (p>0.05).
