PERTENTANGAN ANTARKELAS DALAM NOVEL GERMINAL KARYA ÉMILE ZOLA

Abstract

ABSTRAK Tesis ini merupakan hasil analisis terhadap novel Germinal karya Émile Zola yang ditinjau dari sudut pandang pertentangan antarkelas yang terjadi di Prancis pada abad ke-19. Tujuan penelitian tesis ini adalah menjelaskan novel Germinal sebagai refleksi kondisi sosial masyarakat Prancis abad ke-19, menjelaskan peran kapitalisme sebagai pemicu utama munculnya dua kelas yang saling beroposisi dalam konteks marxisme; yakni proletar dan borjuis, menjelaskan terjadinya proses hegemonisasi kapitalisme dan marxisme di kalangan para buruh, menjelaskan terjadinya konflik pertentangan antara kelas proletar dan borjuis yang bertolak dari enam pokok pikiran Karl Marx, yaitu: keterasingan manusia dari pekerjaan dan sesamanya, hak milik pribadi, dikotomi kelas atas dan kelas bawah, individu-kepentingan kelas-revolusi, negara kelas, dan ideologi, serta menjelaskan realitas konflik sebagai manifestasi dari pertentangan antarkelas. Pertentangan antarkelas dalam tesis ini dibahas melalui pendekatan sastra marxisme yang berada di bawah naungan sosiologi sastra. Dalam menghubungkan teori sosiologi sastra dan teori sastra marxis, konsep realisme-sosialis akan dipakai sebagai perantara. Hegemoni sebagai penyebab prinsipil terjadinya pertentangan antarkelas dalam novel ini ditinjau melalui teori hegemoni Antonio Gramsci. Sedangkan konflik sebagai imbas lanjut dari pertentangan antara proletar dan borjuis dianalisis melalui teori konflik yang dikemukakan oleh Ralf Dahrendorf dan Dean G. Pruitt-Jeffrey Z. Rubin. Metode yang dipergunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif analisis. Metode ini dilaksanakan dengan mengetengahkan deskripsi fakta-fakta yang ada dalam karya sastra, dalam hal ini adalah fakta-fakta sosial dalam novel Germinal, yang dilanjutkan dengan analisis terhadap fakta-fakta tersebut. Dari hasil analisis terhadap Germinal, diketahui bahwa konflik antara kaum buruh tambang batu bara dan majikan yang bernaung di bawah la Compagnie des Mines de Montsou meletus akibat adanya proses hegemonisasi yang melibatkan para intelektual organik/hegemon marxisme. ABSTRACT This thesis talk about analysis Émile Zola’s novel Germinal viewed from the conflict between classes in France in 19th century. The objective of this research is to explain the novel Germinal as a reflection of the social condition of France Society in 19th century, to explain the role of capitalism as the main trigger in forming two contradictory classes in the context of marxism, that is, proletarian and bourgeois, to explain the emerging of capitalism hegemony process and marxism within the labours, to explain the conflict emerging between the contradictory proletarian and bourgeois class against Karl Marx’s six thoughts, that are, alienation of human from work and the other labours, private rights, dichotomy of lower and upper class, individual interests of class revolution, class country, and ideology, also to explain conflict reality as manifestation and between-class conflict. Between-class conflict in this thesis is analyzed with marxism literary approach, the literary under literary sociology. In correlating between literary sociology and marxism literary theory, social realism concept is used as immediacy. Hegemony as the main cause of between-class conflict in this novel is analyzed by using Antonio Gramsci’s hegemony theory. Meanwhile, the conflict resulted from the conflict between proletarian and bourgeois is analyzed by using conflict theory proposed by Ralf Dahrendorf and Dean G. Pruitt-Jeffrey Z. Rubin. The method used in this research is analysis descriptive method. This method is used by describing the available facts within the literary work, the novel Germinal, followed by analyzing the facts. From the analysis of Germinal, it is found out that the conflict between the coal mining labours and their employer under la Compagnie des Mines de Montsou broke as the result of hegemony process involving organic intellectuals/marxism hegemonists.
