Abstract

Background : The biggest cause of death due to electric shock is the occurrence of cardiac arrest, so this will give a microscopic picture of the heart muscle. The purpose of this study is to prove the effects of exposure to direct electrical exposure to the amount of histopathological damage of wistar rat’s heart’s muscle. Methods: This is an experimental study with post test only control group design. 30 rats were divide into 5 group through simple random sampling. There were control group which received no treatment, and group P1-P4 which received direct electrical current exposure in 1-30 mA, 31 – 60 mA, 61 – 90 mA and 91 – 120 mA. After adaption period for 7 days, electrocution was performed, then assed the amount of hypercontraction of heart’s muscle. After that described the data in table and picture. Statistic analyse was conducted by Saphiro – Wilk test, Homogenity tes, One – way Anova and LSD test. Result : Mean of heart’s muscle damage in control, group P1, P2, P3, P4 were 1; 2,87 ; 4, 83 ; 7, 83 and 13,9. Saphiro – Wilk test p = 0,090 (data was normally distributed). Homogenity test p = 0,699 ( homogen ). One – way anova test was p < 0, 05 (p=0,000), mean that there was a significant differented of all groups. LSD test was p < 0,05 (p=0,000 – 0,008), mean that there was significant differented between each group. Conclusion: Direct electrical current exposure cause histopathological damage of Wistar rat’s heart’s muscle. Higher doses of electrical current correlated more numbers of the damage of heart muscle. . Keywords: electrical current, direct contact, heart’s muscle, histopathologycal damage.
