Abstract

Background: Simunox is a herbal that contains several plant’s extract that according to several studies can improve the immune system (immunostimulant). The Reactive Oxygent Intermediate (ROI) is the product of makrophage’s phagocytosis which are structured by phagocyte oxidase enzyme, that are potent for microba but toxic to tissue and very unstabel . This aim of the study is for analyze the effect of simunox to ROI level of swiss mice. Method: This research was an experimental study using the post test only controlled group design. The samples were 20 Swiss mice that were randomly divided into four groups which were the control group (K) that had been given aquadest, and the treatment group (P1, P2, and P3) that had been given simunox in 0,04 ml, 0,08 ml, and 0,16 ml via gastric sonde. The result was evaluated by comparing the observation result between the control and treatment groups. ROI examination was evaluated by NBT reduction. The data were described in table and picture, and were continued by Kruskall Wallis test and Mann-Whitney test with SPSS for Windows 16:00. Result: Kruskall Wallis test showed p=0,045, and with the Mann-Whitney test there was a significant difference berween control and simunox dose of 0,04 ml (p=0,009), and controls with simunox dose of 0,08 ml (p=0,0026). Conclusion: There were an elevation of ROI levels on the treatment of simunox 0.04 ml and 0.08 ml doses which compared with control group. Keywords: Simunox, ROI
