Abstract
Background : Black tea is a variety of tea which is made from Camellia sinensis. In the body, black tea goes through metabolic process which is ended with elimination process in kidney. The purpose of this research is to observe the effect of black tea to histopathology description of kidney. Method : This research was an experimental laboratory with post test only control group design in mice Balb/c which consisted of 15 male mice, divided into three groups. The treatment group P1 was given 25,4 mg/cc/day of black tea, P2 50,8 mg/cc/day, and P3 101,6 mg/cc/day for 30 days. After that, the mice were terminated then their kidneys were taken to be made histological preparations to be observed microscopically for tubular damage. Result : In this research, the average number of damaged tubules are P1 23,76%, P2 19,28%, and P3 16,84% of the total tubules examined Conclusion : Administration of black tea (Camellia sinensis) orally for 30 days up to dose 101,6 mg/cc/day showed lower amount of tubular damage of mice Balb/C’s kidneys which was matched with the escalation of black tea’s dose. Keywords : Kidney histopathology description, black tea
