HUBUNGAN ANTARA MASA KERJA DENGAN KEJADIAN GINGIVAL LEAD LINE PADA PETUGAS STASIUN PENGISIAN BAHAN BAKAR UMUM DI KOTA SEMARANG

Abstract

Background: The contamination from gasoline is getting higher along with the increasing number of motorcycles and cars up to this days. With the increasing of lead polutant (Pb) on the air, human being will get more risk of being exposed by the danger of the substance. One of the effect of lead exposure toward human health is the early existence of gingival lead line, which is appears at gingival margin. The gas station workers is a high risk group that was exposed by lead, since they were used to expose with fume or gasoline and smoke of cars. This research was aimed to analyse correlation between work duration and gingival lead line existence of gas station workers in Semarang. Methods: This research was descriptive study with cross sectional design. The sample consist of 34 respondents took by consecutive sampling. Data were collected by direct examination of subject’s upper and lower front gingiva and classified according to Sudibyo’s score, then processed with SPSS 15.0 using Spearman test (p< 0.05). Result: The result of the study showed that 2 of 3 (66,6%) respondents with short work duration had normal and low-grade of gingival lead line. For the respondent with moderate work duration, half of the 15 respondents had normal and low-grade of gingival lead line and the other half had moderate and high-grade of gingival lead line. Most of the long work duration respondents had high-grade of gingival lead line with 56.3% from 16 respondents. Conclusion: The research showed that there was correlation between duration works duration and gingival lead line existence but not significant in statistical analysis test.
