Background : Hibiscus sabdariffa is one of the herbs which have long been used by the java community in Indonesia. Hibiscus sabdariffa contain active compounds which are believed to lower serum triglyceride levels in order to prevent the state of hyperlipidemia. This research was conducted to determine the effect of graded dose Hibiscus sabdariffa dried flower calyx on triglyceride serum in hypercholesterolemic Sprague-dawley rats. Method : An experimental study using control group with Pre and Post Randomized Controlled Group Design of males Sprague-dawley rats who made hypercholesterolemic. The sample consist of 24 rats were divided into four groups, namely a control grup who were given a standard diet and distilled water and three treatment groups were fed additional diets for six weeks in the form of 125mg/KgBB/day Hibiscus sabdariffa dried flower calyx for treatment group 1, 250mg/KgBB/day for treatment group 2, and 500 mg/KgBB/day for treatment group 3. Analysis of serum triglyceride level were using GPO-PAP method. The data obtained were processed using statistical test One-way ANOVA and Paired t test. Result : Post hoc LSD test showed significant difference triygliceride level between all groups with p=0,000 except between group P1 and P2 with p=0,001 .Decline of 9,8% in treatment group 1, 19% in treatment group 2, and 40,2% in treatment group 3 while in controls increased by 1,06%. Conclusion : Giving Hibiscus sabdariffa dried flower calyx for 6 weeks can reduce serum triglyceride levels of hypercholesterlemic male Sprague-dawley rats significantly . The higher dose of graded dried calyx of Hibiscus sabdariffa given higher serum triglyceride levels decreased Sprague-dawley male rats. Keyword : Hypercholesterolemia, serum triglyceride, Hibiscus sabdariffa infusion.
