Background: Knowledge is needed as the top point to reach health attitude and behavior of the community. It means that knowledge about eye health service is the first step to promote the utilization of eye care center to create health community. The knowledge is probably influence by age, sex, source of information, economic status, education level, job. Purpose: To know the factors related to the community’s knowledge about eye health service. Methods : This was an observational analytic study with cross sectional design. The subjects were community of Wonolopo Village, Mijen sub district, Semarang on March-April 2010 which were chosen by purposive sampling. Of these subjects, 50 peoples aged >15 years responded to a structure questionnaire. Having some understanding of the eye disease and program of eye health service was defined as knowledge about eye health service. Results: This study showed 48 subjects was productive age and 2 non-productive age which are 17 male and 33 female, only 21 subject which received source of information. This research’s data also found 36 subjects had low economic status, 18 with moderate education level and 14 with formal job. Conclusion: Most of respondents had moderate knowledge about eye health service. Economic status related with knowledge about eye health service significantly. But there are no significant relationship between age, sex, source of information, education level and job with knowledge about eye health Key Words: Knowledge, age, sex, source of information, economic status, education level, job.
