Abstract

Background : MHC Handbook is the right tool to enhance expectant mother's knowledge . Basically the knowledge depends on age, education, experience, occupation, and intelligence. Thus, those factors indirectly affects the level of one's understanding about certain information. Based on that background, researcher wants to dig deeper about what factors are related with the level of expectant mother's understanding of the antenatal care massage contained in MHC Handbook. Method : the research program is observational analytic by means of cross-sectional design. research carried out in April - Juli 2010. research samples are expectant mother from desa Kedungboto Kecamatan Limbangan Kabupaten Kendal which fulfills the criteria of inclusion and exclusion. Data collected by questionnaires. data described with tables and pictures, spearman correlation test and fisher exact test is conducted with SPSS for windows 15.0 Result : the analysis of the relation between education and the expectant mother's level of understanding, using spearman correlation test resulted p =0,211 (not significant) and weak relational status (r = 0.235), the analysis of the relation between occupation and the expectant mother's level of understanding, using fisher test resulted p=0.233 (not significant), the analysis of the relation between age and the expectant mother's level of understanding, using spearman test resulted p = 0.475 (not significant) andery weak relational status (r =- 0.136) the analysis of experience reading MHC Handbook with the level of expectant mother's level of understanding, using fisher test resulted p = 1.00 (not significant), the analysis of the relation between number of pregnancies and the level of understanding resulted p = 0,921 (not significant) and very weak relational status (r = -0.19) Conclusion : education, age, occupation, and experience is not related with the level of expectant mother's understanding about the Antenatal Care massage contaioned in the MHC Handbook.
