Abstract

Penelitian tentang pemanfaatan metode kimia melalui adsorpsi zeolit alam untuk mengolah air tanah Karimunjawa telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk menentukan nilai COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) dan TSS (Total Solid Suspension) air tanah Karimunjawa sebelum dan setelah adsorpsi. Bahan penyerap (adsorben) yang digunakan adalah zeolit alam. Disamping murah, zeolit alam merupakan sumber daya alam Indonesia yang melimpah namun belum dimanfaatkan secara maksimal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai COD dan TSS air tanah Karimunjawa masing-masing 124,18 mg/I, dan 18.80 mg/L. I'engolahan melalui adsorpsi zeolit alam mampu menurunkan nilai COD dan TSS air tanah Karirnunjawa. Penurunan COD optimum terjadi dalam kisaran waktu penggojogan 60 hingga 120 menit sebesar 81,58% terhadap nilai COD mula-mula. Walaupun zeolit alam juga mampu menurunkan nilai TSS air tanah Karimunjawa namun penurunan nilai TSS ini hanya 12,5% dalam kisaran waktu penggojogan 90 hingga 135 menit. SUMMARY It has been done the research on using chemical method with natural zeolite adsorption to treat the ground water of Karimunjawa. Finding out Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Total Solid Suspension (TSS) before and after adsorption process was the objective of the research. Because of an abundant resource in Indonesia, cheap in price and not maximally use yet, natural zeolite was choosed as an adsorbent. the result showed that the COD and TSS of the ground water of Karimunjawa were 124.18 mg/L and 18.80 mg/L respectively. Treating with natural zeolite absolutely decreased the COD up to 81.58% at shaking time range between 60 to 120 minutes. Since the decreasing of TSS was just 12.5%, 90 up to 135 minutes in shaking time range.
