PENGARUH SERUMEN OBSTURAN TERHADAP GANGGUAN PENDENGARAN (Studi Kasus Pada Siswa Kelas V SD di Kota Semarang)

Abstract

Background : Cerumen obsturan is one of otological disorders, which is in aural canal cerumen obstruction are found. Obstruction cause by cerument result conductive hearing loss. For that reason, this research will observe the effect of cerumen obsturan to hearing loss in children. Methods : This was an observational research with cross-sectional design. Subject was selected from 10 different district area in Semarang with stratified cluster random sampling. In every district area we choose one elementary school and using consecutive sampling to choose students for sample research. Otoscope is used as cerumen obsturan assestment tool. In order to measure the degree of hearing loss we used audiometer test. The effect of cerumen obsturan to hearing loss analyze using chi-square test with α=0,05, CI95% and power 80% by SPSS for windows 18.0. Result : There were 487 subject of 10 elementary school with cerumen obsturan incidence for 104 (21,4%), 26( 5,3%) with mild conductive hearing loss, and 4(4,7%) with moderate hearing loss. Chi-square test between cerumen obsturan and hearing loss using, was obtained X2=28,43, df=1, p=0,000 (p<0,005) or there were significant effect between cerumen obsturan and hearing loss. Conclusion : Cerumen obsturan has significant effect to conductive hearing loss. Keywords : Cerumen obsturan, hearing loss
