Background : Human body has multi layered immune system. Mediators, also known as cytokines, play a role in controlling immune response. One of the cytokines is interferon- (IFN- ) which is produced by T lymphocyte after the stimulation of specific antigen. Simunox is a herbal product from PT. Sido Muncul which can have immunostimulator effect. Objectives : This study was aimed to investigate the effect of Simunox on the IFN- level of Swiss mice. Method : This research was an experimental study using the post test only controlled group design. The samples were 20 Swiss mice that were randomly divided into four groups which were the control group (K) that had been given aquadest, and the treatment group (P1, P2, and P3) that had been given simunox in 0,04 ml, 0,08 ml, and 0,16 ml via gastric sonde. The result was evaluated by comparing the observation result between the control and treatment groups. ROI examination was evaluated by NBT reduction. The data were described in table and picture, and were continued by Kruskall Wallis test and Mann-Whitney test with SPSS for Windows 16.00. Result: Kruskall Wallis test showed p=0,015, and with the Mann-Whitney test there was a significant difference of simunox dose of 0,16ml Conclusion : Simunox dosage 0,16 ml gives significant difference of the IFN- level of Swiss mice. Keywords: immunity, IFN- , Simunox.
