Abstract

The need for natural resources increases, it is necessary for the alternative resources that can meet those needs. Coal is a mineral that has important economic value. The increasing national energy demand at this time and years - to be followed next year by improving the discovery of the source - a source of energy in a field of exploration. Indonesian coal production is expected to continue to increase, not only to meet domestic needs, but also to satisfy foreign demand. This study aims to determine the physical characteristics, the distribution of coal and coal resources calculation. At this time penelititan data in use is the data logging, drilling and geophysical data, whereas the coal reserves in the calculation using the program Surfer 8 and a few supporting programs that corel X4, axcel, autocad 2007, and logplot. Based on calculations using the program Surfer 8 in the research area known to have tons of coal reserves amounting to 110,244,042.16 194,748,607.22 at the seam on the seam of X and Y. Thickness - average X seams in the research area of 19.9 m and Y are seams of 22.7 m with a characteristic black, luster dull, broken konkoidal, many pages. Between coal seams have similar characteristics. While the spread of the coal seams of X and Y trending northwest - southeast.
