Abstract
Change of health paradigm and disease patterns are shown by the increase of surgical procedures. The technology development in medicine also leads to the increase use of surgical rooms. Surgical services in Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital were conducted in two rooms, which included 450 operations per month in average. These operations were from inpatient and out patient departments, emergency rooms, which consists of elective and emergency (cito) procedures. The short of system in the usage of surgical rooms causes the frequent schedule change due to the late information to the related service unit. The aim of the study was to develop an information system for surgical room usage in Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital that relates to operation scheduling for the management activity. The type of study was an operational research that used qualitative method, based on the steps of System Development Life Cycle application. This research used intensive interview technique to probe the consumers’ needs as the effort to obtain the suitable model system.
