Abstract

Patient Safety is a situation in which a patient is free accidental injury caused by medical treatment or incorrect medication. Nurses attitude to support patient safety program is needed to guarantee a hospitalized patient safety. Lack of the attitude to support the implementation of the program is an important problem which must be handled by the hospital management of Dr.Moewardi Hospital in Surakarta. The objective of this research was to analyze nurses knowledge and motivation that influence the attitude in supporting the implementation of the patient safety program. This was an observational research with cross sectional approach. Population was all nurses at the Intensive Care Unit of Dr.Moewardi Hospital in Surakarta. Data were analyzed using bivariate analysis (Chi Square Test) and multivariate analysis (Logistic Regression with Enter Method). The result of this study showed that most of the respondent had a good attitude (76.3%), good knowledge (76.3%), and good motivation (71.2%). Based on the bivariate analysis, variables of knowledge and motivation (p>0.05) had a significant relationship with the nurses attitude in supporting the implementation of the patient safety program. The result of multivariate analysis showed that variables of knowledge (p = 0.006, Exp B = 2.322) and motivation (p = 0.020, Exp B = 2.093) together influenced the nurses attitude in supporting the implementation of the program at the Intensive Care Unit Dr.Moewarni Hospital in Surakarta.
