PERBEDAAN ETIOLOGI GAGAL JANTUNG KONGESTIF PADA USIA LANJUT DENGAN USIA DEWASA DI RUMAH SAKIT DR. KARIADI JANUARI-DESEMBER 2006

Abstract

Backgrounds : Heart Failure is a major public health problem in industrialized and developed nations. Its prevalence is likely to continue to increase as the population ages. Early diagnosis and identifying underlying etiology are needed because there are noncardiac disorders that mimic heart failure syndrome in younger and older people. Objective : The purpose in this research was to know the differences of congestive heart failure etiology between older and younger patient in Kariadi Hospital period January to December 2006. Methods: This was a descriptive research with secondary data from medical record. The sample were medical records of older and younger congestive heart failure patients in Kariadi Hospital period January to Desember 2006 with ECG, echocardiography, and laboratory examination. Result : The most common etiology of congestive heart failure in elderly was ischemic heart disease 65,63%, hypertensive heart disease 15,63%, cardiomyopathy 9,38%, valvular heart disease, rheumatic heart disease and pulmonic heart disease each of them 3,13%. The most common etiology of congestive heart failure in younger was ischemic heart disease 55%, valvular heart disease 15%, cardiomyopathy 12,5%, rheumatic heart disease 7,5%, congenital heart disease 5%, hypertensive heart disease and pulmonic heart disease both of them 2,5%. There was no differences of congestive heart failure etiology between older and younger patient. Conclusions : The most common etiology in older and younger patients in this research was ischemic heart disease. There was no differences of congestive heart failure etiology between older and younger patient. Keywords : Congestive heart failure, etiology, older, younger
