Abstract

One of the Aware Village activities is the implementation of community based surveillanceon maternal and child health through activities conducted at Posyandu. Surveillance activities are conducted by health cadres who record and report posyandu activities using the available information system. The collected information was weight, child’s nutritional status, immunization given, risk levels of pregnant women, Tetanus Toxoid given, list of mothers and children (live and death), and presence of health workers on activities. Before the information system developed, the information was difficult to re-access and were not complete, accurate, and clear. The objective of this research was to develop posyandu information system for supporting of community based maternal and child health surveillanceon aware villages. The design of this research was pre-experimental (one group pretest-posttest). The development of the system was based on the steps of FAST (Framework for the Application of System Thinking). Subjects consisted of both the end users (posyandu cadres, Working Group IV of PKK, midwives, and nutritional health workers at Public Healthcare Centers) and the supporting end users (Head of Village and Chairman of the Aware Village). Data were analyzed using content analysis (for the qualitative data) and comparison of considered average of the information quality between before and after developing the information system (for the qualitative data).
